Naomi Peak

I went for a hike yesterday with my friend Tanu. We climbed Naomi Peak, the highest peak in the area, almost 10,000 ft. The view is absolutely breathtaking. In the picture with me in it you can see the Wellsville Ridge, starting right at my head and moving left.

Logan
is somewhere behind the mountains under that in the picture. Despite the 100 degree heat in the valley that day, there was snow up here.

Napoleon Dynamite Festival 4

The guy who played Lyle (the guy who shot the cow) in the movie was around signing autographs. He's a local farmer there. I didn't get an autograph; not really into that kind of thing. The woman in white to the left is his wife.

Top to bottom: (1) The Happy Hands Club performing. I'm pretty sure the two outside girls are the actual twins from the Happy Hands Club in the movie (older now, of course). (2) Last year's Napoleon look-alike winner and a Kip contestant. (3) Last year's Napoleon doing "the dance". (4) Happy Hands Club performing "The Rose", the song they did in the movie. This is the part, as you can see, with the bird hands that was so funny. (5) Rex look-alike contestants.

Napoleon Dynamite Festival 1

I went to the 2nd Annual Napoleon Dynamite Festival in Preston, Idaho yesterday. Preston, as you know by now, is where the movie was filmed. I went on a bus tour of the major film sites and then watched a number of impersonation-related contests (look-alike, dance, voice imitation), which was interspersed with performances by the Happy Hands Club. Pictures (top to bottom): (1) The tour was conducted on the actual bus used in the movie, driven by the actual bus driver, who is a real local bus driver in Preston. This is her. (2) Rex and Starla's house. (3) Summer's house. (4) The house where Uncle Rico made a sales call on the way to bringing Napoleon to the prom. (5) The spot from which Napoleon threw a grapefruit at Uncle Rico's van, leading to a scuffle and ending with Napoleon jumping that fence.
