Deep Canyon to Wellsville Ridge

I went for a hike today alone, back up to the Wellsville Ridge, but via a different trail this time, the trail that I had hoped to take before but which was closed due to fire. It was beautiful with the new Fall colors and the lush green forest at the beginning of the trail.

Crimson Trail to China Wall

I went for a hike today with Diane. It wasn't a long hike, but the views were spectacular. I'm only a 5-minute drive from this place, if you can believe it. I also went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. It was pretty good, but not great.

Cafe Sabor

I went to a charity auction night at a local restaurant called Cafe Sabor tonight with several of my counseling center colleagues. It was a benefit for the Multicultural Student Center (our neighbors across the hall). They had Latin dancing and music and there were many non-white people there. It was really nice to experience a little spice and variety after several weeks now of nothing but white LDS students. It was also nice to have some good food and to eat outside.

The Canyon and the Lake

I went for a little Sunday drive today to Bear Lake. As dedicated followers of my blog will recall, I have already been there and I've already posted a picture of it. However, here are some more pictures of both the lake and Logan Canyon, the canyon one must drive through to get there. As usual, these pictures don't begin to do justice to these places. Part of the issue was that I was actually in my car driving while taking many of these pictures. Another issue is that my camera isn't that great. And then there's just the general "pictures don't capture it" issue. By the way, the picture with "the beast" in the lower left corner is of a ledge that I plan to hike soon. I hear it's pretty scary, since there's no railing or anything and, as you can see, it's a steep, far drop into jagged rocks and rattlesnakes. I'll probably do that this weekend.

Old Tree

I went on a hike today with Diane. The weather wasn't the best--a bit rainy and overcast and a tad too chilly at times. But it was a good hike. The official key feature of this hike is that it goes up to where the oldest Juniper tree in the wide area is located (as exciting as it sounds); however, while we saw the tree, there were many other spectacular views as well (not well captured on film, unfortunately). Unfortunately, while I did attempt to take a picture of the 1500-year-old tree, an ancient curse put my camera strap in the way to keep me from steeling its soul (that's how it's survived this long, apparently). Later today I'm headed to the annual "intern barbeque" at the training director's house. Maybe I'll get some pictures of that.

Lonely Mountain

I went for a hike up to a mountain ridge by myself yesterday. It was quite beautiful, as you can see, though these pictures, of course, don't do it justice.

I highly recommend that you click on the pictures to make them bigger. This is true of all the past ones, too. They look much better bigger. Remember that, once expanded, you can usually expand them even further with another click.

Pilgrimage to Preston

After a busy week and a hard day, I decided to go visit my buddy Napoleon up in Preston, Idaho, just 30 miles north of Logan. While I took some good pictures, I was not actually able to find Napoleon's house. Luckily, I ran into him at Preston HS.

Pilgrimage to Preston (continued)

Here are some more pictures from Preston: The thrift shop Napoleon bought his suit in (see extra footage on the DVD; the bowling place where Uncle Rico and Kip made plans for Kip's transportation; the Cuttin' Corral; Napoleon and I preparing to plaster the school in "Vote for Pedro" flyers; and Uncle Rico's van.
